About the Study
What is the study about?
This study looks at the experiences of, and outcomes for, adults who have attended coding bootcamps and other similar intensive digital skills courses. We are interested in bootcamps on all types of topics, including software engineering, front-end/web development, user experience (UX/UI), data science, product management, and more. This project is focused on the US and the UK.

We would really value your participation!
We are now conducting interviews with people who have attended bootcamps. We will be asking you about a range of topics, including information about you (age, gender, race, educational background, etc) and your thoughts about your course (why did you pick your course, how your job search went, how you felt about your training).

Who is in charge of the study?
This study is led by Dr Kate M. Miltner (University of Sheffield) with Dr Gitit Kadar-Satat (The University of Warwick).
Why are you doing the study?
The findings from this study will provide much-needed information about what it is like to attend a coding bootcamp and what happens to students once they leave. This should help to understand the benefits and drawbacks of coding bootcamps, who they benefit the most, and why.
If I participate, what happens to my data?
Your data will be anonymised and used to build an overall picture of the experiences and outcomes of those who have attended coding bootcamps in the US and the UK.
Who is funding the study?
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 801215, The University of Edinburgh, and The University of Edinburgh Data-Driven Innovation Programme, part of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal.
Who can participate?
Anyone who is over 18 years old and has attended a coding bootcamp or similar course can take part.
Will my answers be connected to my name?
If you participate in an interview, we will change any identifying details about you, including your name, the bootcamp you attended, and anything else that could help identify you.
